What do you have access to???
Me, I live on the coast, so my main focus will be salt water fishing, but within 50km from where i live, there are many dams, a large reservoir, and smaller creeks.

I say sea water, but it's a brackish mix of tidal sea water and fresh water from upstream.

Saltwater fishing for me also. I live on the coast and will be a mix of beach fishing, harbour wall and marina fishing.

I am close to both, If I was keen I could ride my push bike to either, The dam is closer for the bike.

Depending on the cause post SHTF fishing will not be a viable option except for a few!
The best way to get a feed of fish will be to stick a shotty in a returning anglers face and relieve them of your dinner! and it wont be long before what fish are left arnt! Live on an little island with few people great! Hard to get a reliable feed now imagine with more anglers fishing more often!

We don't have quite the same polution here as the Swan, but we are downstream from an occasional sewage leak... I haven't fished in this part of the river since I was a kid (and even then I never ate the catch). But if things turn desperate... I agree with Frostbite - I've often been concerned about others trying to take the catch, or at very least, watching where we come from and go to.

Yes, some really good points there - not everyone will have fishing line/rods etc ( I have enough to give to the whole street-almost ). I'm 100m from a small beach at the marina, so I'd go at night - but could get my hands on a tinny and oars if needed - then to get the fish home!!!

I live on an island so no prizes for guessing what I have access to.

I've seen the occasional fisherman nearby [plenty of water around] and I've done my share of fishing, have enough gear etc, though in SHTF, I'd rather spend my time shooting birds with air rifle, lots more birds than fish around here

Was out fishing for squid late afternoon yesterday - saw a young bloke snorkeling with a hand spear with elastic for release. In a shtf scenario, the spear is good for spearing food, then could become a weapon for protective use.
Lucky bugger too - I was there almost 3 hrs and got nothing; he was out about one hour, and got enough fish for a big feed!!!!!
Next investment - snorkeling gear, and a spear!
