I like the idea, just can't see a need where I am.
Only simplex, but I can see it being useful in a situation where say you have an OP that would otherwise not have comms, then simplex may not matter much as the OP is mostly warning the base.

Where it would be useful I would imagine is if you set it up on a hilltop that you could 'see' and it would it allow you to 'see' to other radios on the other side as CB is line of sight. I've still not got a decent grasp on this topic to say more than that.

Yes, that's the sort of thing I was thinking, an OP that's out of range due to a hill or whatever. Actually to me the expression "CB" means the old 27MHz and that will work around corners, that's why I have some

something I've thought about at times, a retrans site in an elevated position, with a radio, a logbook, and a 338 lapua magnum Luckily I have someone in my group who is a professional in this very thing. we use uhf radios in cars and on person like yourself have toyed with the idea of hilltop op aerial size seems to be important in reception as car units receive much better than portable units
