I've always been a strong supporter of the ABC and while I don't follow their TV broadcasts anymore, I'm still a very regular listener to ABC News Radio, Radio Australia & Radio National.
There are many criticisms that could be levelled at ABC for their branching into what some would perceive as commercial medias realm but they've always had a strong emergency coverage, alerts & support. Spreading the message about emergency kits and having disaster checklists listed on their site is just cherry on the cake stuff for me.

ABC news outlets have given quite fake political coverage. I hold them directly accountable for it.

paranoia I agree - they do fulfill the emergency role quite well. But I'm with shinester - expressing their own political views and opinions is most inappropriate.

I also concur with you and Paranoia on the emergency role/radio, a good community service to which makes sense as a governmental organization.

ABC news outlets have given quite fake political coverage. I hold them directly accountable for it. I'd encourage you to expand on this as it's a line I see thrown around a lot in political circles, but never explained. I would agree that ABC TV have diverged into programming that covers political issues, sometimes written as opinion pieces, but I would argue the core news of ABC has kept its integrity.
I recall a few years ago before I quit TV, ABC started running panel shows and opinion pieces on their ABC News 24 channel which bothered me. I cant comment on online journalism as its not something I read.
If you do want un-biased Australian news where else can you turn but ABC News radio though? Purely fact based reporting and live/delayed streams of federal house/senate. Do yourself a favour and try a listen to ABC News radio, I'd agree there's an issue of credible Australian news sources and it's the best I've found.

I certainly wouldn't want to be working for the ABC. I have it on good authority from a international war correspondent with 30+yrs experience that everyone who works at the ABC is forced to be a vegetarian or at least claim to be to keep their jobs.

I lost most of my respect for the ABC after seeing a particular episode of Catalyst some years ago. I lost the rest upon seeing Q&A.

I could nominate a recent comment heard on ABC news reporting last Qld election: "Queensland politicians are worried as the threat from a growing number of One Nation supporters means there is an increased risk of a One Nation representative being elected to parliament"
True or not, i dare you to argue that's "unbiased" language - are One Nation supporters not people? (I'm not a ON supporter or voter.)
