I'm told that Channel 10's The Project fake news program is running a story on Aussie preppers tonight.
Another sensationalist piece perhaps, but what I'm very interested in is I believe our friend Dr Simon Henry has been interviewed as part of the story.
Dr Henry has posted on this forum before, claiming to be an unbiased expert on Australian survivalists.
I'm going to watch Dr Henry's contribution with an open mind to see if his claim is accurate. It seems he is becoming the media's go to expert on the prepping sub-culture in this country, so if he is fair and unbiased he may be an asset for us. It would make a refreshing change.

That will certainly be interesting, they haven't advertised it at all in Melbourne.

What a refreshing change. Two survivalists who came across as decent, intelligent and normal. No guns, swords, balaclavas, gas masks. The panel were mostly positive as well.
Unfortunately it seems that most of Dr Henry's interview got left on the cutting room floor, but what did make it to air wasn't an issue. Pity, I was hoping to see him tell the viewing public that we aren't a threat.
I'm impressed. I was expecting the metro latte sippers on the panel of the Project to laugh us off as crazies and do a real hatchet job on us. Perhaps prepping is becoming more mainstream.

Watched it. Thought it was fair coverage.
Lisa Wilkinson typifies the kind of character that annoys me: Dismissive of the idea of having plans and investments in place for when difficult times arise. I suspect she'd be the one of those who think they can simply spend their way out of any difficulties after they set in and that any difficulties will be short lived.

I agree, pretty down to earth and balanced I thought with only Wilkinson taking the attitude we usually expect.
I have to say that I've been watching this show for a few months now and more often than not (by a huge margin) Waleed Ali makes sensible comments about issues and says stuff that I agree with, I'm not sure he's really as portrayed by most prepper/right-wing forums and groups.

...No guns, swords, balaclavas, gas masks. ... Thank God for that, if I see another f*cking prepper image with a full gas mask I'll scream

Just got to watch it then via the web. I'm really disappointed wasn't very balanced coverage at all, absolutely zero mention of the Militant Survivalist Training Team and their massive contribution to the Australian Prepper / Survivalist "Movement"!

Stoppppp it!
The segment was a win for the Sub-Culture. Don't ruin my buzz.
Simon.

I just watched it now. I agree that it was fairly balanced (although I didn't see any "panel discussion" afterwards).

I haven’t watched the show yet but am mates with the bloke who was interviewed. He is a good lad, actually reminds me a lot of you Grey....a few years younger maybe but good similar nonetheless 😂😂
Either way he was pretty happy with their portrayal and doesn’t feel like they crazied him up to much
