Reports are saying that 3 churches and several hotels in Sri Lanka were blown up, at least 138 dead and over 400 wounded according to reports. Easter naturally to target the most Christians possible and hotels possibly to target foreigners (the West?).
Nobody is claiming responsibility and considering the demographics of that nation (largely Buddhist) I'm curious to see who did it and why.
Has the extremist behaviour of some violent Buddhist groups like in Burma expanded to Christians and foreigners? Was it implemented by another Islamist group (Muslims are also a minority like Christians in Sri Lanka so I'm worried for the peaceful ones if it turns out Islamists did it)?
Who knows. But I certainly will be waiting to find out who, as well as praying for the safe delivery to the next life of my spiritual brothers and fellow human whom have perished in this holy day of Easter.

Just saw coverage of it on TV. It's very grim and very sad.

Hmm haven't heard a word about it on the TV, I don't watch TV a lot but was just watching the news and never saw it mentioned. Given my limited TV watching I still heard ALOT about NZ attacks for weeks after the event.
I guess these bombings being bombings and not shootings also in parts of the world that are not Oz, NZ, Europe or USA the media doesn't really care.

Officials now are suspecting an Islamic fringe group to be the perpertrators of this atrocity but nothing is confirmed.

The whole scenario over there is difficult to make proper sense of. It's got a sniff of 'set up' by people who are well organised. Radical Islamists often seem to be the opposite of well organised and are also usually quick to own their bombings.
What is the point of slaughtering Christians meant to be?

aint it in their Koran? they have to kill the infidel? any non muslim is considered an infidel, aint they?whats kinda odd is how some news filtered through that some mosques were targeted. so ,was everyone a target?. sorta white wash the whole situation as a mad plot by "non specific crazies", lol . no one wanted to say "its radical muslims killing westerners and Christians" even hilaryClinton and Obama made reference to the killing of travellers and "easter worshippers"..lol. so afraid to admit that Christians and westerners were the specific targets. So, it was "non specific crazies", killing tourists and "easter worshippers" (hang on a sec- there was no whitewash with the Christchurch news- we were told the facts, straight up.)

I can see why ISIS want to claim this. I would not be too surprised if detailed investigation later reveals some different players involved.

Those 'Easter worshipper' comments were weird.

These deranged nutjob bombers don't generally need any tangible reasons to do their thing.
Across the middle east they seem to regularly kill other Muslims as much as any other religious group.

There is something very wrong with these mass killer psychos. A pregnant woman blowing up herself and kids is beyond extreme.
I have to admit I was relieved when I got back from dawn service this morning, scanned the news, and found that no other dawn services around the country had ended with explosions.

I don't believe the NZ attack had any influence on this, the media etc are just trying point to something easy as the "justification" for the attacks when we all know the real reasons behind them. These attacks are nothing new and it was expected something would be attempted on Easter regardless of what happened in NZ.
Of course we don't hear nearly as much on these attacks, simply because it shows islam/muslims = bad and that's not very "PC" at all.

Someone wrote...”I have to admit I was relieved when I got back from dawn service this morning, scanned the news, and found that no other dawn services around the country had ended with explosions”
And if something had occurred and the media slaves were told to be silent, then we would all be happily flipping pennies. Business as usual folks.
