Favourite survival film is Castaway because it is the most realistic film. No romantic notions of a post apocalyptic world. It shows the misery and resourcefulness required to survive. Even takes into account the mental health aspects which most movies ignore.

I am waiting for Zombieland 2 to come out next week Not realistic or anything but hell the first one was funny as shit.... People at work always joke of coming to my household if there is a zombie outbreak because I shoot weekly and eat canned food often. Good thing they don't know that I prep.... If SHTF (civil unrest type) and getting out of town is not possible, I would just go to work, surrounded by trees (you won't know it's there if you walk pass it) and the buildings are very defensible. They can knock on my door all they want

Not sure if Mike Maloney has been mentioned on here; but I've been watching a lot of his material on youtube, (atm, ... pun intended) .. He does a great comparison piece on the reasons for the collapse of the Roman Empire; and similarities with the word economy today; and covers topics including: - Departing the Gold Standard, (Nixon 1971). - Fiat Money - The difference between money and currency. - How the global economy dodged a bullet/financial collapse by 3 hours in 1998; (vis inter bank lending and ATMs shutdown; etc)... - The deadly consequences of Exponential Growth; (economic; population; resources depletion; etc). - Never ending waring - that drains a nation's wealth, (Rome and the USA). - The switch out from a democratically elected republic, to a dictatorship; (why and how). - The rise and rise of the Military Industrial Complex; (Eisenhower - 1961; Rome and the USA). - Deflation. - Hyper Inflation. - Financial Oblivion.

Very funny, as good as the first one and the first one was great. Absolutely no prepping value but lots of laughs! Classic line: "Uniquely annoying... no!" I also recommend 'Cockneys vs Zombies'. So funny.

Fatal Contact - Bird Flu in America. Watched it not long ago - eerily similar to coronavirus. Spoiler - the very last scene - pick the dead person moving his arm to get more comfortable

I've never had much time for economists. If they're such experts why aren't they all millionaires? I was once advised by an economist to buy an investment property in Baldivis (south of Perth, at the time it was the fastest growing suburb in Australia). I was concerned that the high number of FIFO workers would lead to prices crashing when the mining boom ended (which they did). Values are now so low that banks aren't allowing people to sell their homes as there's insufficient equity to cover existing mortgages. There are now hundreds upon hundreds of vacant houses there and it's now got the highest rate of personal bankruptcies in Australia. That's how speculative invesment works though. Take MacQuarie bank. If there's 9 years of ponzi boom and a crash on the 10th year, the investment analyists still get their huge bonuses 90% of the time. Boom bust works well for guys like that. It's average families who are just cattle for them that lose out.

28 Days Later. Good old zombie flick, but more so on having the will to survive and to do what needs to be done

The first real survival series I saw was in the mid 1970's a series produced in Britain called "Survivors" about a group of people who survived a global pandemic and the issues they faced. Its available on the web, or selected parts are anyway and is worth a watch. No happy ending though as disease takes over, but some good survival ideas, such as producer gas to run a motor vehicle and so on. I don't think it was produced in color though.

Has anyone seen The Colony? www.imdb.com/title/tt1470018/It's an experiment reality series that went for two seasons over 10 years ago. It was enjoyable to follow the group of survivors who have to band together after society has collapsed. Some of the projects they built were interesting.

"Black Crab" on Netflix is a good one!
It was okay but a little more backstory would have been good. Seemed a bit rushed and could have told a better story.
Worlds gone to shit, you have to fight for what? against who? and courier a unknown package that will end the war, big gaps in the story but interesting.

Yes I'd agree with all that, I just found it better than the average crap you get dished up these days!

Greenland is worth a watch if you have Amazon. A realistic lesson on how people lose it when they find you have something they don't. Like a lifeline!
