This is such an outrage, an actual disgrace and slap in the face to Australia. The government sell their own people short, as you probably gathered I am heavily involved in Ag here is SA and recently just got elected to an actual position on the education board as the representation of all tertiary Agricultural students in SA. I have already contacted the stock journal and ABC ag correspondents, I am not letting this go easily. I may be young but injustice is injustice and I won't just sit here. I will keep you all posted on any progressions.
Here in SA its happening too, we have some of the direst conditions and foreign investors are buying farms at such inflated prices that no one notices the big picture. They aren't buying to feed aussies, I don't understand how people do realise that Ag is literally the fail safe of Australia, and that our farmers are being screwed ten ways till sunday. Its really an outrage and about time that something happens.
If you have any ideas please let me know would love to actually make some noise about this.
Cheers,

and I'm not too keen now I'm moving to WA chasing mining jobs since I've found out how nasty their firearm laws are, meaning I would effectively have to sell them off before I move there ? It seems that WA is the worst in most regards, is that a fair comment? The only thing I know that's better there is that you can buy pepper spray. Don't mention that too loud - they'll ban that too. About the only thing you can buy easily is archery gear. Gun laws are ridiculous, you can't even get a licence for a crossbow, and even gings are banned (unless a children's toy). I've said it many times before - WA is the EROL state.

Back to the topic of farming, what amazes me is that the govt doesn't realise the importance of food security.
The banks don't give two hoots about farmers - they're just interested in profits. They won't hesitate to sell farm land to foreign interests. Along with the loss of farm land, we'll be losing people with the knowledge and experience of farming in various regions in Australia, and eventually we won't be able to feed ourselves. That is when other countries will have us by the short & curlies. Some will expect mercy and generosity from these countries (good luck with that), others will expect the UN to intervene (they will, but not in a good way).
In short, we'll be stuffed.

Cheers, I wish I had some legal knowledge to help you out I lived in Winton on a sheep farm for a while as a young kid, it chokes me up thinking about those beautiful people being forced off their land.

Cheers, I remember posting something about this (foreign investment in our land) elsewhere, and I still believe selling farm land and mineral resources to other countries is something that will not end well for us in the long run. Not good at all.......

Antarctica might not be too bad actually, they are starting to do aquaponics, and a few other stand alone systems as well, just in case they can't get resupplied. if the heating fails, you're screwed. Unless they're growing firewood with those aquaponics systems... Algae! grow algae, two uses, the oil is great apparently and can replace fossil fuels, plus the biomass later can be dried and burnt. Always think of the glass as half full, and solutions rather than the problem. I personally love problems/challenges as they let my twisted mind run overtime looking for workarounds and solutions. Give me a problem any day, keeps me active and enjoying life.

Still not somewhere I'm inclined to live...

Paal has such a good reputation in kit homes - you cannot go wrong. Having steel frames is a must in country Australia with termites. I really like some of the layouts in the container homes - and they are reasonable too in price. Sigh.........

You coming out my way mr pete? Down south has rubbish block size for the $$, wheatbelt seemed to tick the most boxes for me and I cant imagine anywhere else in wa meeting prepping requirements.
Not as much rain and no fishing sure, but u can grab 700-1000 acre blocks for $140k.

I have spent way to much time on their interactive design thing. I do like the looks of them, these guys are just a simpler version of paal homes.

My sister used to live in your neck of the woods (Benny/Koorda) but I don't know much about the place. That's a mighty tempting price, though.

Some nice units there, and good prices it seems. Make me wonder if I should be building my own. No matter, too late now.

Came across this bug out shelter (cabin). archedcabins.com/index.htmlGo along the tabs until you get to. more.. Click, then click on gallery. When the first picture opens, in the far top left hand side of the pic, just touch the screen and for just a couple of seconds 'play' will appear. Click this. This will take you thru a pictorial slide show of how they are built.
