Due to pretty disgusting illness circling our house we did not have the energy or inclination to cook. Out came a litre of spaghetti Bol sauce. Bottled in early January and it was very tasty. I could not taste it was bottled even though I was looking for differences. Apart from set up the preserving gear. ($$$) the actual product is as cheap as you want to make it. You can use aldi australian tomato or if your budget w not allow that imported Italian for under 70c can best time to learn this and get over the aussie resistance to bottled meats is to begin now. Well worth the effort.

I use a lot of bottled meat. Last nights dinner was a jar of cubed pork (raw packed) tossed in plain flour and spices then shallow fried in oil until golden. Take meat out to drain, throw in fresh veg and stir fry with a bit of soy sauce and homemade chilli sauce (or whatever you like), throw meat back in for a sec and serve. Takes about 15 minutes all up and is amazing.
