Extended power outages may impact the whole community and the economy. A power outage is when the electrical power goes out unexpectedly. www.ready.gov/power-outages

I saw an article yesterday that South Australia's incompetent treasurer (the one who sold ETSA off to private overseas interests in the 90's - and turned our power from some of the cheapest into some of the most expensive in the world) has now sold off the Adelaide based back-up power generators bought with tax dollars by the previous Government.
Now ... Eyre peninsula had 3 back-up generators that could have powered our entire region during the statewide blackout a few years ago. But they were controlled by private interests. And none of them worked when needed due to lack of maintenance.
Sir Thomas Playford fought a bitter battle with his own Liberal party in the 1940's to make South Australia's power grid a taxpayer asset. A move that leveled the playing field and benefited all business and households - especially in regional areas. The state economy grew tremendously as a result - steelworks, shipyards, vehicle manufacturing, tyre manufacture, whitegoods and electrical appliance manufacture and large scale irrigation and food processing industries powered by reliable, cheap electricity. Any profits flowed back to government to re-invest. Everyone was a winner.
Rob Lucas is hell bent on destroying Playfords legacy and turning SA into an economic backwater. He is an enemy of business and households and a friend only to foreign investors.

He is an enemy of business and households and a friend only to foreign investors. The gen set in the Lower Eyre Peninsular - during the storm, they didn't know how to turn it on - had to fly someone over from Perth to do it, and show people how to start it. Fills me with so much confidence! It's sad when self interest over rules the best interest of those in your electorate - I'm sure those who voted for Lucas didn't do so for his agenda he is running with. This state has been mis managed for decades, and now we are paying for it, literally, and our claim to fame?
