I think these will be good for for a GHB or GOOD bag. Lighter than a can, and more packable, so can travel further with more comfort but have a protein hit too. I haven’t seen them at Coles or Woolies. I’ve been keeping an eye out. Has anyone seen them anywhere? If I have to resort to buying online I’ll look into alternatives. I thought from a supermarket these might be cheaper than MREs and similar.

Perhaps spam is so delicious that it is worth searching this out (it’s prob been 35 yrs since I tasted it!) but if you’re only thinking it might be useful for a bob or similar, why not just keep it easy and use the sachets of tuna or chicken, or even beans, and save spam for easy to get larger cans? Is it worth going to a lot of trouble to get when there are other options?

Got confirmation from the company that they aren’t available in Australia.
There’s other food in retort bags I can try or otherwise canned food or hiking/camping food.
Thanks to you all for the help.

Why not make your own single serves? Chop down a can of spam and reseal in mylar bags in the portion sizes you want. Would be alright for a weekend/week bush trip.

When I make up "bush meals" when I'm out on the tractor on the far side of the big pasture, pond swamp, and such I use a product similar we have available here..
We have Hereford brand corn beef in a Spam size can. Or in a pouch like shown. Without going and getting one, it is a South American product we have found quite good, versatile, and useful.
Being a premium product to our taste, they also command a premium price as such items go. We do keep and use store brand items similar to Spam, but use them in dishes where they are more disguised with other ingredients. They are not as good eaten out of the package as the Hereford products..
I will look for the Spam product in that packaging..
To subdivide a can of Spam into meal size portions is OK for use the same day it is opened, I think.. Unless frozen, I'm not sure if or how it would repackage well for a longer term..

The sheep don’t know the value of spam , there were loads of cans left on the shelves so I grabbed another slab of it

We make our own dehydrated meat, then seal in mylar bags with oxygen absorbers. Wife opened some the other day more than 5 years in storage and ok to eat and tasted fine.
