Interesting article on EMP. EMP Effects on Vehicles www.futurescience.com/emp/vehicles.htmlActually refers to tests conducted and what the known results were. Of interest was this section: "The Soviet experience is a warning to keep critical electrical spare parts on hand for the older vehicle. This includes things like ignition coils, mechanical distributors, generators and starting motors. In particular, any critical item with a coil of wire that is insulated using enamel or a similar substance may be prone to breakdown, and needs to have a replacement part on hand." I had assumed that components that use high voltages or currents, like coils and starter motors. would be relatively unaffected. But it is more about heat generation degrading insulation than excessive voltage.

We like our horses for SHTF transport. They go places the best 4wd cant. Fuel grows everywhere outside of cities. They self replicate. And under dire circumstances you can even eat your 'vehicle'.
