So got a call a little bit ago from "Robbie the computer tech"
The kind of male sing song voice, English second language, from India that so many scam calls have originated from..
So he said... This Robbie the computer tech.
I said... So what is wrong with your computer Robbie ??
He said.. No it is your computer..
I said... Really... So how did you figure that out ??
He said.. There is a problem with your computer.. You F#####g B###h..
I said.. Takes one to know one c**k s*****....
On a couple occasions I have had time and such to mess with the minds of people making calls like this...
This is the first time one has done this to me..
Was quite a surprise..

Rats.... I messed up the title to this.. Meaning to put...
"Robbie" The Computer Tech
Can it be fixed ?? ?? Thanks..
It has been commented that people seem quicker to default to total vulgar over many things lately..
So... Being the king of the quick comeback... That I am ...NOT... I wish I could come up with a better, more cutting rapier wit comeback.. But it was a surprise..

Until about 5 years ago, not having a land line telephone was enough to keep away most scammers and telemarketers. Now that mobile calls are virtually free, the scum have completely moved over to it.

My sister had a disgusting response to unwanted callers that still makes me laugh 35 years later. Too politically incorrect to repeat here.

On a couple occasions I have had time and such to mess with the minds of people making calls like this... You could always say in a sultry voice "What are you wearing...!" That might creep them out.

Call one day
S/S Hello, is this ******? I/S Yes. How can I help you? S/S Our records show you were in an accident, and you may be eligible to receive a large pay out. I/S Really? S/S Yes Sir, I can see it is quite large payment. I/S So, because I was in an accident I get a huge sum of money? S/s Yes Sir. I/S So, even though I was so drunk I couldn't see straight, caused the accident, killed my two passengers, hit a van and killed a family of six, decapitating two young children, ran over and killed three pedestrians and a poodle, and now the Police are after me, I still get the money? Hello? Hello?

I rarely answer calls from unknown numbers. If I do, and it's spam, I just hang up. Easy.

The ones I hate the most are those automated ones. Grrrrrrr. I totally baffle real people by defaulting to my Fenland roots and using the accent of my forefathers. After the 3rd time of asking and they still don't get what I'm saying there's the click!

They always hang up +++ Now THAT is the kind of thing I wish I could come up with at times... If I answered RCMP... with my luck it would be the RCMP calling... Worth doing anyway to mess with the scammer, and the cops do have a sense of humor ...some at least... WAIT.... Better yet... Up here answer the scam call.... Citizenship, Immigration Canada... THAT would put the fear of God in them faster than anything else if they though there might be a problem immigrating there endless string of relatives... I'm such a SOB at time.... - - - - - - Spinifex... Thanks for fixing my mess..

I like the Confusion Bomb approach:
Soon as you realise you have a telemarketer/scammer interupt their flow and say: "My consulting rate is $10 a minute. Minimum consult 15 minutes. Before we go any further ... do you have a credit card?"
If they say Yes ... ask them to provide the details. Then rebuke them for wasting your time when they don't provide them. If they say No ... thank them for calling, apologise for not being able to talk to them at this time, then invite them to call back later with their credit card details.
