Remembrance Day here... Veterans Day for the US...
There was always something special someplace in town to honor the day.. All things canceled this year of course..
Somewhere I have DVDs of Gallipoli, and Anzacs..
My mom told the story when grandpa came off the boat in New York, he was given a subway token to Grand Central Station, and a train ticket... He arrived home with his uniform, pack, ammo belt, and rifle.. I remember that rifle sitting behind the kitchen door until I left home..
This year many, most poppy sales trays have a card tap pad to buy with.. What they have come up with to make things as "no touch" as possible I guess.. How will this year be different for you ?? ??

I'll be at a military aircraft museum with daughter (who served) and grandson, so our minute of silence probably be in the museum.

I'll be at our local ceremony - mate playing the bugle - chills all around when he does the Last Post.

I did a google last night and couldn't seem to find anything going on locally. I had assumed everything was cancelled due to covid?

It's Armistice Day over here today. As usual, I will take a couple of minutes at 11am to reflect and give thanks.
A lot of the usual services and events were cancelled although the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance went ahead on Sunday, it was a muted affair and definitely had different feel to it this year.

Nothing needs to be organised, you just stop whatever you're doing as a mark of respect. I was in the cockpit of a 747 at the time. Pity it wasn't 5 minutes later, when I was 'piloting' an F111 on a bombing mission over Jakarta.
