This is EXACTLY why I go no-name 'Australian Grown' products where ever possible in the supermarkets. There's not a lot of them, but I rarely buy 'premium' brands regardless. I flat out refuse to pay a premium for a label, it's something that was ingrained into my shopping habits in my salad days (or should I say, ramen noodle days hahaha!).

To back up a little... Like I said earlier, I bought a couple cans of peas, green beans that were product of Spain.. The corn and cream corn of that label were product of Asia somewhere... NOT even going to try that..
The product I got was OK, not bad, but not exceptional.. We will not get anymore, as home canned is better tasting.. So much for that experiment.. Every ones taste is different, so you have to try it once.. Every once in a while you hit a real winner..

Learn how to raise and butcher yr own meat. Grow as much as u can, nows the time to learn. Many years ago I had to replace a starter motor on a Kohler {John Deere) generator set. It was mounted on the generator side, not the motor side, so needed to be reverse rotation from normal. It was also a permanent magnet type and none available in Aus. In stock in Singapore, so ordered it expecting it to be a couple of days or so. Was told it would be 10 days delivery, why I asked, because it had to go via America so it could be stamped made in America ! Cost over $2 K as well and turned up right on time 10 days later. Beware of even what the label says as other countries have lax labelling rules that Aus.
How do I set my laser printer to "stun" ?

Found this on another website re Edgell Corn.....
It started a few months before Christmas last year - friends of ours Nat & Anna - called to say their young kids didn’t like the canned corn as it tasted “funny” and not like “normal”. They then asked me, “Hey Claire, isn’t Edgells canned corn grown in Australia? This can says it was grown in Thailand?!?” I was shocked. As a proud grower of sweet corn since we started our business, we knew the corn was grown locally and processed in Bathurst. I called the fellow who we deal with at Edgells/Simplot and he was absolutely upfront: we ran out of corn last year. We had to buy a small amount from Thailand. I drove into town and found the new Thai cans - Edgells were upfront with their loyal customers - they said they would return to Aussie grown corn as soon as it was ready. And so they did. Corn from St George in Qld and Bundaberg rolled into the factory before Christmas 2020, and then in January 2021 the Geurie corn rolled in. We assume the Thai corn has now moved through the supply chain and has now been eaten. We will work with Simplot & Edgells to ensure this never happens again: with great planning and considered access to water resources, regional NSW & the Central West can supply all the sweet corn the Bathurst factory needs. The water space is tricky. It must be shared with lots of people, places and purposes: but we must always remember that food grown in Australia has very strict regulations and a fantastic clean & green reputation. Let’s ensure our politicians, businesses and supply chains know we want to consume Australian grown product, manufactured in the regions as it creates great options for Agricultural sector and the supporting regional economies.

We had to buy a small amount from Thailand. +++ This is interesting... And especially for the processor to be so up front with you with info on the product..
Here the corn cans said "product of Thailand" but as far as the processor all it will say is similar to "produced for ...fill in the blank... grocery company Canada".. No more accountability than that.. I have called about things like that before for more documentation of the custody chain on products, but mostly get stonewalled with what ever "canned" answer is on there screen at the moment.. I have told "customer service" if that is all the info you can give me, I won't buy the product.. They don't seem to care.. Unfortunate, disheartening, and more than a little scary at times...
