I have seen a few of these candle heaters on Pinterest but they always look unsteady as many were placed on cake tins etc. But, it takes an Aussie to create an alternate heat source that is safer and looks good too! Could you use small paper fire bricks instead of tea light candles?

I have tried this, using many variations. Ultimately the conclusion is it does not work, also the maths will show that it does not work but it's a bit complicated for me to work out I did however end up building an ethanol burner, now that bad boy works.

a regular candle can warm up a 2 meter wide by 2 meter wide by 2 meter high bathroom... talking from experience since I used to do this in my younger days (okay, 30 years ago) during early December and January mornings. It would take about 15 to 20 minutes to warm the room a slight bit.

Hubby doesn't like to pour water on my enthusiasm, but I know him well enough when his reply is usually, .....hmmmmm, interesting. He was real enthused about the paper fire bricks and is already - in his mind - designing a press from timber as that is what he loves working with. He has already designed a solar oven and at one of the garage sales we went to on Saturday - one we skipped earlier in the morning was like stepping back in time. An old builder that collected anything and everything. His man's shed was an Aladan's cave to the men wandering around with their tongues hanging out. Hubby came back with a roll of sisal - enough to make 10 solar ovens he declared - for $1.00. I know what the kids are getting for Christmas! Everything had layers of dust and grime and I passed him this 'timber object' which he added to his pile of purchases. We were back home when he came rushing out of the garage. 'I know what it is holding the 'timber object' up to me. It's for holding the hessian bag top seams in place while the 'weapon' needle stitches the hessian bag together'. It reminded me of the "Mystery Object Segment" on that ABC show but the host is now serving time at Her Majesty's pleasure and I don't think it's on any more. Prepping or Ebay? Let me think about it, I'll just put it back in the garage for now. The lady running the sale said she would be having another one in a few weeks. As she went away to get something, she opened a roller door in the back of the shed and behind that - another shed. Those that glimpsed it for a split second - like hubby - will spend these next weeks planning their approach. But girls - never get between a garage and a pack of men if the sale advertises ' old tools'. The men are usually very polite - it's the wives coming up the rear you have to worry about.
