I just saw a snippet of Ice Road Truckers in which a trucker jumped a vehicle by inverting a battery above the battery in the vehicle, contacting the terminals, and giving it some gas. Has anyone used this method? Has anyone done so without spiling acid everywhere? There was no sign of spillage on the telly, but it was a truck battery...

I have swapped the dead battery for a good one, started the car and let it run for 15 minutes or so. Then without stopping the car swapped the batteries over again. once started a car will run just fine without a battery.

I did that years ago with a pre-efi engine. I'm guessing it would work for an efi engine...

Not all efi cars will run without battery. My ford taurus would shut off as soon as the battery was disconnected. I dont know how common it is but thought I would mention it as it would ve worthehile testing it on your car before its needed.

Cheers Thereth, I'll keep it in mind it has certainly worked on all the EFI cars I have tried it on but that is a fairly limited test group
