Would appreciate advice/recommendations on the above, have looked at Goal Zero which seem OK but would welcome any other suggestions. Main purpose is to recharge batteries for headlamps and other torches.
Thanks

I know one bloke who has a Goal Zero10 Plus kit www.goalzero.com.au/shop/category/complete-kits/7and likes it. Based on that I'm thinking of getting one. Dunno if it can charge something via a USB port but in general I prefer having AA/AAA batteries.

This is what I went for; USB charger - $4 Fold out charger - plug in your USB device [or AA charger] into the panel and charge. 7W in ideal conditions would give you about 20Wh/day in winter in Vic and 40Wh/day in summer as an average. My phone battery is 7Wh and so allowing for some losses you could charge approx 2 per day. AA batteries would depend on capacity, but 3000mAh batteries [1.2V] = 3.6Wh each [Volts x Amps], so about 4 a day during winter, twice that during summer. If you're walking around with it dangling on your pack, then expect far less charging as the panel needs the sun. $35 I also added phone battery charger - $4 That's what I use. Batteries aren't too expensive and I already had plenty of them lying around. The panel is same capacity as the goalzero.

That one looks good Shiney. The photos on ebay show some with a USB plug and some with a socket, which does it have?

Anyway, no matter. That pic of the power board plugged into itself was a s on the web for a while (might have even been on Kickstarter I think), they showed it powering various items but must have had a connection up through the table. It sucked a lot of people in though

Ha, yeah it's a s.
Ahh, got you, no mine has a 'metal ended' bare socket so kind of looks like a plug but isn't and the one pictured is another version of a socket.

My Goal Zero turned up in the mail Monday. Will try it out over this weekend and give a review. If I can find my rechargeable batteries after our move...LMAO...

Ok, the Goal Zero worked great, even in cloudy weather. But excelled in the full sun. I did not get a charging time for 4 AA batteries as Jinny had me working, but they where fully charged by 2pm.
I need to get the attachment to charge my 18650 Batteries. Other wise AAA+ ratting!

I purchased a cheap foldout panel set from Aldi late last year. Have used it a few times, works well so far but time will tell if it last as well as some of the better options

You could Frankenstein some solar panels together like this Youtube vlogger - Survival Lilly. USB, AA, AAA solar charger.
