Hey all, I am thinking about buying some powdered garlic and powdered onion in bulk online to save money, knowing I won't be using a kilo of it any time soon, and would love to add to my preps, what would be the best way of storing once opened from the original packaging? And how long would it last once opened. Thanks!!

The 'best' way is to keep oxygen, light, heat away from it to keep it as long as possible. In terms of practical ways, there's various ways to suck much of the oxygen out of containers, O2 absorbers being one of them, various pumps or vacuum sealed bags. You could store it in the freezer I suppose for the 'best', though stuck at the back of the cupboard in most houses would probably do for some time.
Since I already have bits and pieces, I'd use a few bell jar [the jars used for pressure canning] with a vac-pump that sucks the air out of it and stick the jars in the back of the cupboard until required.
One last one that you might not have considered, grow both of them in the garden, could easily have a few KGs sitting there.
