This is a tv movie that aired on National Geographic last week. It's shot from the viewpoints of different people after the grid goes down. I've only watched a little bit so far, but it seems like it's worth a look.

I've heard so much about this from Facebook chatter. Definitely keen on sitting down and having a look. Thanks for the post, Lee.

Fk me it took me nearly 7 hours to watch this movie in between doing other crap!! LoL
Hank did'nt have a very good home defence plan thats for sure and his family should have all been trained in that defence plan as well. James was a liability considering he gave the enemy food and water and his daughter and wife were useless also. WTF is wrong with these people??? My wife would die for me and do anything to prevent some arsehole from taking our hard earned work! I have to say that I would have dropped that prick at the fence after James told him they had two years of food and anyone else who came asking as to his where abouts. James would used as bait and daughter would be confined to bunker after 10 public lashings! LoL Not a bad watch but extremely frustrating in a lot of places as the stupidity is hard to fathom, but after seeing people react like Sheep in an emergency situation I have no doubts at all that this stupidity would shine through early and a lack of OH&S would provide a natural selection quickly! It pays to be prepared but it also pays to be prepared to defend your preparations with any force neccessary! I reckon Sharpshooter extrordinaire could chime in here and tell us all about taking something by force after dropping the sentry from 54km away with a .177 air rifle.

Nate, that's INTO the wind - and it was a neck shot, forgot to take in the elevation at that distance - was aiming for the nose - another bad shot I'm not proud off!

Took me about 13 hours to finish it, haha.
It wasn't bad. The ending was a bit of a cop out I thought. The phone ringing cliche and everyone suddenly being reunited etc. was a letdown. I don't see how they could get the grid back online after just 10 days, either. Especially with all that was going on.
Did anyone else find it funny that the prepper opted for a double barrel shotgun when he had AR's and AK-47's to choose from?
Here's the link to the British one:

I saw that British one a few weeks ago. Was annoyed at that too!

The whole thing bothered me! It was just a bunch of propaganda, seriously. Both the UK and the USA versions are saying that it doesn't matter in which way you survive. I mean the woman who went to the Red Cross with children was better off in the end than the prepper who became vulnerable. It was basically saying that the best way is to get help from Government.

Both the uk and USA versions annoyed me. They are both portraying that even if you are prepared you are just as unsafe as everyone else. Well yeah we know that but it could be off putting to anyone new to preparing. In the USA version the woman who went to Red Cross was less vulnerable than the prepper (even the subdued riot haha to grab water from the truck was ridiculous.) This was just more propaganda!

Rem I can see your point of view. I honestly did'nt consider that possibility of it being a ruse to get people to rely on their gubberments. Thats an interesting theory and I think very plausible.

Thank you for the link lk67 - I watched the first one last night. NatGeo seems to be pushing the "prepper angle" pretty hard with all of their "reality" type productions - do you think the message is getting through to the general public yet? My brain has gone into overdrive trying to work out how I would handle things in all of the presented scenarios .....I've got to admit that I'm a bit worried about the "mob" aspect more than anything else.

I reckon Sharpshooter extrordinaire could chime in here and tell us all about taking something by force after dropping the sentry from 54km away with a .177 air rifle. Agreed - just watched it today. So many bad decisions were made - like the dopes in the penthouse in Manhattan - not even a can opener, or a ready Freddie. The two on the roof at least had some sort of a plan, like trying to catch pigeons. I'd have belted that door down though with what I could find. At least they stuck together! Hank wins the "Tool of the Week" award. James was a liability from Day 1, and the moment he compromised their safety, he should have been cut loose, or at least knee capped and left miles away. As you said, Mum and daughter had no idea, and if Hank was killed, or seperated, they had no clue what to do. Goes to show there is more to prepping that just having a food stash. But, being sharpshooter Number 1, those hillbillies would have been head shot with my awesome .177 air rifle loaded with NATO .308 rounds, 150gr, lead tipped pellets. And, I'd shoot further than from 54km, just in case i give my position away!!
