Ok so now we have a situation where there will be a certain level of concern from some members of the population (a minor part) and ignorance is bliss from another. The problem is that the aim of terrorism is to disrupt the normality of life by using fear and uncertainty to enforce their position. In this they have been progressively achieving success for over 13 years in the form of security checks at airports etc.
So how does this fit in with our choices?
We choose to be prepared. This does not mean we are cowering in a corner in fear. However we should not bug out or in just yet.
Consider the following:
1. Large scale events are the targets that get most mileage. Try to avoid them. Footy finals, major events such as the G20 and other places that attract major crowds. Eg finish line of the Boston Marathon.
2. Do not seek to alienate or marginalise minorities. Not all terrorists are Muslim and not all Muslims are terrorists. The Oklahoma bomber was a disaffected young white man with a grudge. Fundamentalism is the problem be it Christian, Muslim or white supremacist. Fundamentalism is fundamentally wrong.
3. Community is strength. Be it the support you get from this group or getting to know your neighbours and local groups the more a community grows the less chance that there will be alienated people in it.
4. Because we are what we are we should remain as they said a a long time ago. "Be alert but not alarmed." Or as it was mutated to " Be alert Australia needs more lerts".
I wish for all of you to stay safe but do not give the terrorists what they want.

The terror warning is a knee jerk response to Isis members been Australian, the raids in Logan qld and the UK has raised their alert level
What do we do about it that's different to what we already do... NOTHING!!!
who dose this affect... No one...
Its when a attack actually happens or new laws are introduced to "keep us safe" that's when we need to do something

How long have we been at a heightened alert level (as a group) since Isis has been founded, or since 9/11 or since... The list goes on
This raising had to happen, but dose it really change anything??

(Keep in mind this is a preparedness forum not a random current affairs page.. So if this really affects the genenal member here, then your alarm system is broken, you should have been on higher alert when reports came through over Australia's first suicide bomber in Iraq, or the Logan man promoting Isis, or the afp raids on the Logan district over terrorism... All been pushed on msm and here... So if you need the government to increase your alert level because it politically suits them... Then learn to read the signs)
