After reading some stuff on here about an economic collapse, I ran a little scenario for myself to see where I'm at and I thought I'd inquiry for further ideas:
Economic Collapse: This is the second great depression, many people are out of work, some banks have gone out of business, housing prices have crashed, no more cheap Asian goods, fuel prices have gone up, government services are 40% of what they were [half as many people working in any government industry], welfare has been slashed to a quarter, some food shortages. The first great depression, in effect lasted for about 13 years, though of course politically it ended earlier.
Major Economic Collapse: Much of the world is disrupted, fuel is scare and expensive and whilst available is mostly absorbed by the essential services such as farming, food distribution, and the energy sector. Government services have been slashed to 5% of what they were, no hand outs, little services, maintenance almost non-existant. Widespread rioting and looting initially, with it drifting towards a third world nation where people just don't have much and get by.
Income? - How would your family generate some kind of income, be it through 'sustainable' trade or services that might be of value in this changing environment? Essentials? - How will you feed/house you and your family, remember that the first great depression lasted for about 13 years, so what do you do after a few months? How are you prepared? - Are you prepared or how long could you hold out? Preps you'd like to have? - What would you like to have in this scenario that you currently don't have that would be
