Sodium Hypochlorite absorbs water from the air as I've had the experience of making it unstable. The solution I've found is storing it in glass vials to which some were found from a WW1 dig. [it was used against gas attacks]
Grains - Grains are very cheap to store and last basically a lifetime even poorly stored. Not a big fan of beans in that they dry out and take 'forever' to cook unless you store them sealed. Grains can be sprouted for a good source of vitamin C. A grinder a good combination for it. If I were trying to store up large amounts of food for a small town, I would indeed store wheat, as well as larger scale mills and wood ovens. It's also perhaps the most traditional and well proven 'prep' for winter as done through much of European history.

ok lah. he did caveat that for grains, he does store some beans .. he's talking about not blindly storing grains if you don't eat them.
I would store rice and lots of it coz I'm asian and rice is a staple.

Wheat, beans, rice and some flower is the staple of my food storage. Buck wheat and salt is what the Russians are currently stockpiling of the imminent nuclear war as Putin prepares his citizens for war. All survivalist say getting starch in the bush or out of the environment is the most difficult thing to find. I store lots of wheat including two hand grinder and yeast (have have many printed recipe on how to make yeast). Making your own bread where many other ingredients like herbs and dried fruit can be added is very useful. Wheat can also be left to soak in water over night and then cooked like rice. Wheat has high protein content and slower release of energy than rice. Rice gives a quick release of energy which decreases rabidly over time. Wheat and beans are the most easy to store, and maintain quality for years. 3,000 year old wheat found in the Egyptian pyramids was able to be propagated. Wheat can also be sprouted prior to eating giving way more nutrition and protein.
