Note, what was the almost the first thing to be installed ?
Solar electric, the world runs on electricity, hope you've got your supply secured.
142 NONILLION degrees Celsius is the ultimate heat level that, according to scientists, represents the absolute heat point in our universe. That's a 1 followed by 54 zero's. Puts it into perspective.

My daughter and I walked past a container building on the weekend. 2 stacked on top of each other with stairs and a metal verandah around 2 sides. Very industrial. I asked her if that brought back memories, she said yep, urban warfare centre in QLD. She then proceeded to tell me how she once threw a training grenade from the ground beside a very similar setup, trying to get it through an open door on the second storey, but the grenade hit the verandah railing and fell back down, causing mayhem as her section dived for cover. Pure gold.

On a related theme ... I've got a huge stack of wooden fruit bins (think pallets with 90cm high sides) that I'm going to use for construction materials. Want to make an art studio out of them.
Just made a 30 metre long solid screening fence out of fruit drying racks. Made a bee hive out of them too. We've 40 pallet loads of them sitting in a shed that we're trying to find alternative uses for. Intending to turn pallet sized plastic fruit bins into a bank of yabby or freshater fish tanks since we have so much cheap water. Will use one for groing water spinach in too.

I don't remember where I saw this.. Pictures of a shipping container that when you open the container doors there was an outside house wall with a door just inside.. The rest of the container was fitted out as a small weekend type cabin..
I liked the idea of minimal openings to the outside of the container, however that does make for some limitations..
Close the container doors and you have a critter secure (my thinking being bears) structure.. This build may not be the best for extreme summer or winter, but more than comfortable much of the year on a short term stay usage.. Variations, adaptations to a design like this would be endless..

A shipping container is also pretty well emp proof. We have one that's got our backup electrics in.

Most, used to have anyway, a steel floor with the treated wood laid over the top of it.
And if its sitting at ground level, the ground itself will act as shield, up on piers not so much.
The young lady up the road has built a 2 story house, rather like the one in the video.
Why do a bunch of weird psychos decide how we have to live-as if this planet is theirs ?

I've looked at a shipping container set up a few times over the years. Price wise, it's just as costly as building a small shed if you factor in buying a brand new container to avoid rust issues. Then you have to cut windows in, which require sealing etc. I'm lazy, I'd rather just buy a custom shed and have someone else do the grunt work for me.

A custom shed is a great option if you take out the cost of the concrete slab. Council can be an issue though, on rural property farm sheds are usually exempt development, but there’s a strict limit of 1 or 2 containers, depending on property size, without council approval. Sheds are less hassle legally. It only takes one neighbour to ruin your life by dobbing you in to council. Seen it happen.

So 1 container on top and 6 buried beneath it.
