HI. Thanks frostbite for starting this thread - I've been away for a few days recharging my depleted batteries - this topic has been on my mind.
Firstly, I abhor this shooting, and my thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families. What happened is disgusting, and the loss of those victims will never be forgotten.
The shooters were an extreme fringe, whackos, psychos, retards, whatever word fits. What they did was disgusting and wrong, and they got what they deserved.
I did read that whatever site they were on only had a few hundred followers - they are not us, and never will be. We, as admin, will never accept this behaviour, especially here. Yes, we are watched, and this is why we hold to our high standards, and we are not shy to ban people who refuse to comply with them. Our goal is to be a balanced forum, and not an extremist group ( though many would say we are ).
RIP you fallen ones - taken too soon.

How about the other side? "Mr Hallam said these types of blocks in Queensland had been a constant source of complaints from councils and authorities over the past two decades, with concerns about overgrown lots, feral animals and unfinished dwellings." ...and now we can add shooting cops! Damn all those "latte sippers" for complaining. My "blockie" neighbours are next door two Macquarie Bank Executives, other side two Corporate Lawyers, across the road a retired CEO and next to him...........Oops...............two retired school teachers........shit I wonder if they could be anti-vaxxer type domestic tewwowists or even worse "latte sipping" tree changers? The largest most over the top place in our little valley is owned by a retired Family Court Judge , I didn't know judging work paid so well.......or does it?

Now Norseman, you be a good boy at the valley Christmas party. Don't go ruffling any latte sipper feathers with your free thinking. We don't want Mrs Norseman dragging you home by the ear again.

I hate to break it to you, but that's not a rap-sheet of blockies. That's a list of very privileged people. Bankers, lawyers, CEO, judge... They are not blockies. They're retirees. Or cashed up holiday homers. Or homesteaders. And sure, they should expect some modicum of peace and privacy because they're functioning members of society who can be trusted to breath and walk at the same time without tripping over. Blockies are something else entirely. We had several around where I grew up and I don't discriminate several of their kids were friends. Good kids. VERY hard lives. But it was real damn hard to maintain a friendship with children who only came to school a couple of random days a week because the parents couldn't be bothered to get their kids to the end of the drive for the schoolbus to pick them up. The blockies I knew were the complete polar opposite of your neighbours, they're not even in the same universe. And clearly the ones that murdered those cops weren't either.

"Don't go ruffling any latte sipper feathers with your free thinking." Phtt! Nearly choked on my decaf almond milk chia when I read that...
Even the AI monitoring algorithms would catalogue that into the humour bin.

I still like the good ole days when five of us lived in our 9mtr x 6mtr farm shed with a bathroom, toilet and open air kitchen I built myself! Matter of fact I like living in my shed more than the big conventional house we built. I miss when NSW Police would fly the Copper Choppers over to look for the non existent dope crops and the wild Redneck parties we would have. It shits me now, like we've even got cops living up our end of the valley these days.

Blockies are a diverse group of people just wanting to be left alone. They are both rich and poor, educated and not, latte or international roast. It’s the basic lack of understanding of this that lead to the article written by the ABC and perpetuated by some here. Most would never know how wealthy some are. Just because they live in a shed and drive an old nissan ute doesn’t mean squat.

Maybe it's a lost in translation thing then, because where I come from blockies absolutely were NOT cashed up professionals. Where I come from that list is genuinely the opposite of the type of person that would be called a blockie. Where I'm from blockies are NOT a diverse group. They are largely the same. Bought a chunk of land or inherited it from family, paranoid to hell (probably because of all the weed they were growing rofl) and generally twitchy as a poorly wired bomb. If you're saying that a 'normal blockie' where ya'll are from is retirees and high income professionals who just want to be left alone then I can see your point. But I'll stand by my "That type ain't the type that these murderers are". Gotta compare apples to apples. Sadly, these mongrels represent much closer to my experience of blockies than I'd like to acknowledge. But also I think we can all agree that International Roast is for degenerates who deserve hard time in a workhouse for their preferences.

What does that make someone who drinks 10 year out of date ration pack coffee? And loves it.

My husband would not drink anything except International Roast. Yuk! I prefer brewed. He/we were blockies for several years until a health problem (solved now) made us move.

What does that make someone who drinks 10 year out of date ration pack coffee? And loves it. Depends on the ration tbh. And country. If it's Australia... I can't think of a time where it wasn't either Nescafe Blend Eff-Me (ie. Blend 43) or the really old ones from like I think mid-90s and earlier might have been International Roast. I'm pretty confident that the oldest I've sampled was probably from the early 90s and even my immature taste buds curled in horror at the time. That being said I've been known to knock back a mug of the lukewarm sump oil from a current era US MRE, grimace with horror, and keep burning the candle at both ends. You gotta do what you gotta do to get that caffeine hit 🤣.

I’ve live across the country in many places a d blockies are a diverse group. My sample size is statistically significant. I’m not referring to the murderers but all blockies in general like the article appears to degrade.

I liked our valley much better when it was full of hillbilly style blockies now it's all rich ex metro-yup blockies who bought out the bush-bogans and even turned some of them into instant millionaires! A 50k block and now twenty years later a million!

I’ve live across the country in many places a d blockies are a diverse group. My sample size is statistically significant. I’m not referring to the murderers but all blockies in general like the article appears to degrade. While statistically significant both of our experiences are purely anecdotal and a sample size of two doesn't provide for any kind of repeatable statistical significance, so we're both right But on reading back I realise now that you were talking specifically about that article. My very tired 'just moved cross country'-lagged brain didn't pick up on that, for some reason I thought you were applying that conversation to the ferals-turned-murderers. My bad! In fairness it seems that one woman mentions that she's worried about the stigma on the 'normies' and I can appreciate that. Regardless, I definitely would feel under the microscope if I lived around that area. It'll be a long time before those who live further out aren't eyed with something akin to mild suspicion.

This shit goes on more than you would expect, fundamentally your average street level cop is a retard when it comes to firearm related matters:-NSW cops placed on administrative duties after taking bizarre photoAn image has been released of a Police officer pointing a gun to his head. Both officers, who are attached to a Police Area Command within South West Metropolitan Region, have been placed on administrative duties and an internal investigation is underway. The officers have been identified and their firearms have been secured. www.2gb.com/nsw-cops-placed-on-administrative-duties-after-taking-bizarre-photo/
